East Aurora, located in the Buffalo/Niagara Region in Western New York
Founded in 1804, this charming country village south of Buffalo is a welcomed change from the fast-paced living of the city. The perfect blend of old and new, East Aurora features many unique shops, galleries and boutiques, interspersed amongst restaurants and classic diners. We’re sure you will satisfy your thirst for everything from the historic to the chic.
East Aurora is also the perfect place to "experience history" in its many museums and historic places. Our nation’s 13th President, Millard Fillmore built his house here, which now functions as a history museum and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. The buildings along South Grove Street, founded in 1895, make up the Roycroft Campus, a multi-monument to the man who conceived them - Elbert Hubbard and the Roycrofters. Designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986, the entire Campus is now in the process of being restored, including the development of educational and interpretive programming. Roycroft Renaissance Artisans, along with other local artists, sell their products here, as well as other shops and galleries nearby. It’s no surprise that many of these artists have chosen East Aurora as their residence.
Younger visitors will be delighted when they visit Explore and More...a children’s museum. Through experiment, discovery and play, they learn about the world around them. It’s no wonder that East Aurora is the home of well known Fisher-Price!
The 800-acre Knox Farm State Park is the former country estate of Buffalo’s renowned Knox Family. Visitor’s can observe wildlife, hike, cross-country ski and ride horseback along beautifully scenic nature trails. Nature walks and programs are offered through the National Audubon Society. The Visitor Center contains exhibits of historical and natural interest.
Many festivals and events are held throughout the year in this most welcoming village.
