Niagara Falls, New York, located in the Buffalo/Niagara Region

One of the seven natural wonders of the world, Niagara Falls is a must see for any visitor to the region. Countless viewers from near and far have stood in awe of the vast power and beauty of the falls. As millions of gallons of water surge over a 300-foot drop, the roar of the water and the ethereal mist will captivate any audience. If one view of the falls isn’t enough, don’t worry! There are plenty of ways to enjoy this spectacular sight. The falls themselves are part of the larger Niagara Falls State Park, which encompasses over 400 acres of greenery both north and south of the falls. Designed by world-renowned landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmstead, the Park is filled with perfect picnic niches, hiking, and cycling trails, including paths to the Three Sisters Islands, overlooking the river’s drop into the gorge below. Niagara Falls, although still the “honeymoon capital of the world,” is an exciting adventure for all ages. Its natural beauty and many attractions provide numerous ways to enjoy this natural wonder. Get the perfect picture of the falls from the New York State Observation Deck at Prospect Pointe. Jutting directly over the river, this Observation Deck offers unparalleled views. You can also picnic on Goat Island, a short walk over the river and a perfect place for relaxing outdoor excursions.

There are also many indoor activities and museums highlighting Niagara Falls’ past and present. The Niagara Gorge Discovery Center is a great place to learn more about the natural and local history of the falls region and features many informational and interactive exhibits. Visit the Aquarium of Niagara, where over 1500 sea creatures call home, including eels, piranhas, seals, sea lions, and a rare colony of endangered Peruvian penguins. Various species of shark also reside in the 17,000-gallon Shark Shanty. Don’t miss the fireworks every weekend throughout the summer!
