What You Should Seek During WNY's Local Restaurant Week

In this blog Meredith DeLuca highlights five entrées on our radar for the upcoming restaurant week.

Since 2009, WNY Local Restaurant Week has given diners the chance to experience the very best of WNY’s culinary scene. Thanks to unique menu items at affordable prices, this biannual event is a great excuse to support local independent restaurants. Below are five things I can’t wait to order this Restaurant Week from April 16-April 22.

Surf and Turf.  The surf and turf from Fortuna’s offers a 10 oz steak with a 4 oz lobster. Restaurant week is the perfect excuse to go a little overboard and order something a bit more decadent than you normally would. So why not indulge and have the best of land and sea?  View Fortuna’s entire LRW menu here:  http://www.localrestaurantweek.com/images/fortuna2245.pdf.

Fall in love with the great tastes at Fortuna’s.

Bourbon Beef Tenderloin Stroganoff. This classic dish with a modern twist is something I’m really looking forward to from Adam’s Rib. With slow-braised pork in bulleit bourbon served in classic stroganoff sauce over egg noodles. Why just drink your bourbon when you can eat it too? Get cozy at Adam’s rib.

Cuban Pork Sandwich.  With seasoned pulled pork shoulder this sandwich from Gypsy Parlor is one worth trying. In addition to that delicious sandwich you also get yellow rice and beans and candied plantains. Come for the pork sandwich stay for the live music at Gypsy Bar.

Blossom Quinoa. While a lot of the meals featured during restaurant week are rich and heavy this dish from Local Kitchen + Beer Bar is light and healthy.  With red and white quinoa accompanied by green bean succotash and citrus zest this is a dish you can feel good about. As well as being a lighter option this dish is also vegan, gluten free, and heart healthy. Rigatoni ala Vodka with Sausage. Vodka sauce with rigatoni is by far my favorite Italian dish. I love that this take on the classic dish from Share Kitchen and Bar Room includes their delicious Italian sausage. Pair your pasta with apps and salads galore to complete your dining experience.
