Come to Your Senses in the 716

In this blog Meredith DeLuca discusses ways to awaken your five senses this Valentine’s Day.

Ahh Valentine’s Day. Don’t you just feel the love in the air? If you still haven’t made any plans here are a few ideas to get your mojos running just in time for the holiday. Your significant other puts up with you 365 days a year so you can definitely spend one of those days making them feel special. Here are a few romantic ideas to entice your five senses this Valentine’s Day.

Touch. Head to the Aquarium of Niagara and get a smooch from a sea lion. You and your boo can meet a California sea lion, receive a kiss (how romantic?!), a keepsake photo, and a special chocolate treat along with Aquarium admission. The only thing better than a kiss from your Valentine is a kiss from a sea lion!

Hear. Love is a battlefield, right? Well at least that’s what Pat Benatar sang. Now, you have your chance to hear her sing it live with her husband at Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino for their upcoming show. Tickets to such an intimate performance would certainly make for a great Valentine’s Day gift and give you and your Valentine something to look forward to since this concert isn’t until April 13th.

See. How about a breathtaking view from 775 feet up? Technically, the Skylon Tower isn’t in the 716 but when it comes to something to awaken your sense of sight what could be better than seeing one of the seven natural wonders of the world from 775 feet? The revolving dining room at the Skylon tower provides the best view of the Falls and if you go for dinner, you’ll get to see the Falls light up the night sky which is truly romantic.

Smell. Our sense of smell is perhaps the most powerful when it comes to attraction. Why not have a sensual candle to light at home after dinner? This champagne candle from Renew Bath and Body will set the mood and delight your nose with notes of white grape, honey, fresh baked bread and light citrus. There’s plenty of candles to choose from at Renew Bath and Body but we think the champagne candle is perfect for Valentine’s Day. After All, who doesn’t love champagne?

Taste. With so many amazing places to dine in the 716 it can be a little overwhelming to choose just one romantic destination to take bae on Valentine’s Day. The Amoré Romance Getaway at the Delavan Hotel not only provides you with dinner at the intimate Salvatore’s Italian Gardens but you get a complete romantic package of A luxury King Suite, half dozen roses, and two champagne cocktails at Chandelier Bar at Salvatore’s. Nothing says romance like champagne and a staycation.

Some say Valentine’s Day is a phony holiday created by the greeting card companies. However, even if it is a little cheesy of a holiday any time we can celebrate the ones we love is a good time. So make an effort this Valentine’s Day and show your significant other just how much they mean to you. Single? Well, treat yourself then! Like RuPaul always says, “If you don’t love yourself how the hell you gonna love anybody else?”
